Call Mary Jo Bach Burton.
Attorney Burton has represented parents and children in their most difficult moments. Dissolution of a marriage, custody of children, protecting assets, are issues which involve our most intimate relationships and futures. These matters have to be dealt with with utmost care, responsibility and knowledge. Involving the client in determining their values and wishes is Attorney Burton’s style. Everyone’s life has it’s own direction and Attorney Burton never uses a blueprint or preconceived opinion, but instead listens and involves her clients through the process to keep her clients informed and confident that the outcome will be one which they have sought. Attorney Burton sees her services as a gateway through which her clients will pass to proceed onward with the future they are hoping for.
Education and Work History
Prior to being admitted to the Massachusetts bar, Attorney Burton had achieved excellence in the nursing profession. She had achieved her Master’s a Degree and practiced in a variety of settings, teaching in universities at the baccalaureate and master’s level, practicing in hospitals and the community as a Visiting Nurse. If one were to read her article, “The Grieving Patient and Family” published in the American Journal of Nursing, one would know her better. Her background has provided Attorney Burton with the education and understanding not available to the usual attorney with only a law degree. The practice of family law is not best achieved with a “cookie cutter approach.”. Family Law requires an understanding of the dynamics within the family so that values which even the client might not have identified are recognized and explored. Without this understanding, the client may walk out at the end of the day feeling like something has been left out, something is missing. Attorney Burton is not practicing law to achieve such a result.
Attorney Burton believes that it is of utmost importance that lawyers maintain an active presence in the professional community — and that they prioritize lifelong learning. She is currently a proud member of the Massachusetts Juvenile Bar Association and the Barnstable County Bar Association. Her involvement in these organizations allows her to keep up with industry developments and changes in the local legal system.
